Dr Denisha Jairam-Owthar
Denisha comes from a humble disadvantaged beginnings which shaped her into the person she is today. She completed her matric with exemption in the year 2008 and thereafter she worked overseas in New York and London in order to fund her own tertiary education. She received her BCOMPT (Accounting Sciences), CA SA degree from the University of KwaZulu Natal in the year 2006. She then went on to study her MBA (with Major in Technology Management) through the University of South Africa where she was awarded Top Student in Technology Management. She achieved this degree while working at the South African Revenue Services (SARS) and then at Barclays. Her passion and hunger for education did not stop there. Denisha went on to peruse her PhD (Doctor of Business Leadership degree) from the University of South Africa. She was awarded the Top Innovative Student in ICT and the youngest to achieve the DBL in the history of the university in the year 2016. Her working career spans from the year 2007 where she started as a Business Intelligence Analyst at the South African Revenue Services and moved her way up as a Senior Auditor and then to a Senior Manager of Finance, Risk and Project Management. Denisha then took up a position at Barclays in December 2011 as a Senior Manager (National Business Support); and then became the ICT Head (Management Information and Business Intelligence). She was then promoted to Head of Data Analytics and Optimization (Africa COO & Fraud) from the period November 2013 to April 2014. Dr Denisha Jairam-Owthar currently works at the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) where she is the ICT Head of Shared Services. Denisha holds many certificates including ITIL, COBIT 5, TOGAF 9 and is a Certified Director.
