Dr Fanelwa Ngece Ajayi

She is from the township in Khayelitcha (Site c), born and raised by a single mother.Despite the difficulty growing up, she broke the barriers by studying through until she got her PhD in chemistry at age 27.

Growing up in the poverty stricken community didn’t deter her from achieving her dreams of getting a good education. She is the first among her peers to obtain a PhD let alone the first and second degree. Also the first in her community to have achieved that in such a young age.

She is presently doing what she loves doing, teaching at the University of the Western Cape as Senior Lecturer and research leader in Chemistry and being an awesome wife, mother and inspiration to three beautiful children.
